Mr. Poletti
Instructor: Assistant Principal

I joined the Ayala family Oct 1, 2007 as one of the Assistant Principals on the Administrative Team. This is my third year and I am very excited to be back on campus meeting the new Freshmen, seeing how the upper classmen have grown, and the excitement of the 2010 Chapter for Ayala High School. My current responsibilities and duties for this year include Curriculum and Instruction, staff development, supervision of the Counselors, development and implementation of the Master Schedule, assessment (CST and PFT), Activities, and Athletics.

My focus and mission is to (1) ensure that all students who attend Ayala HS are properly placed in the appropriate courses throughout their tenure; (2) provide a diverse blend of courses while maintaining the A-G requirements in preparation for graduation; and (3) ensure that each Ayala student has met all the graduation requirements as set forth by the Chino Valley Unified School District Board of Education as described in Board Policy 6146.1.

Prior to entering my educational career, I served as an active and reserve officer in the United States Marine Corps from 1978 until I retired as a Colonel in 2007. In 1987, I began my classroom educational career of twenty years with the Corona-Norco Unified School District. During my tenure I taught Life and Physical Science at the Corona Fundamental Intermediate School for eight years. I then transferred to Santiago High School where I taught Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Advance Placement Biology for another eight years. I left the classroom to supervised first and second year new teachers as a Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment (BTSA) Support Provider for three years.

When not at Ayala, my interests include golf, RV’ing, restoration of my 64 ½ Mustang, rebuilding motorcycles, riding my Yamaha 1100 V-Star motorcycle, and representing the U.S. Naval Academy as a Blue and Gold Officer.

I am very proud to be a “Bulldog” as I walk the walk and talk the talk the “Bulldog Way”.

When is the best time to ask a teacher for assistance?

When is the best time to ask a teacher for assistance? As soon as your grade dips below a “B” (this means “C” or lower.) If you wait until after the first 6 week grade posting, you are too late and recovery will be difficult…doable….but difficult. Our teachers are available for help before, during lunch, and or after school. However, you must ask your teacher for their hours of availability and seek help. The Math Department has after school tutorial Monday through Thursday from 2:30 until 3:30. When I speak to students who want to transfer out, the first question I ask is how much tutorial time did you take advantage of and the second question is if you parents have spoken to the teacher as well. Too many times I discover that both items mentioned above have not been met. Your teachers are willing to work with you but you must take the initiative and first step.
